چکیده

Development of non-noble-metal catalysts for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) with both excellent activity and robust stability has remained a key challenge in the past decades. Herein, for the first time, Ndoped carbon-wrapped cobalt nanoparticles supported on N-doped graphene nanosheets were prepared by a facile solvothermal procedure and subsequent calcination at controlled temperatures. The electrocatalytic activity for HER was examined in 0.5 M H2SO4. Electrochemical measurements showed a small overpotential of only −49 mV with a Tafel slope of 79.3 mV/dec. Theoretical calculations based on density functional theory showed that the catalytically active sites were due to carbon atoms promoted by the entrapped cobalt nanoparticles. The results may offer a new methodology for the preparation of effective catalysts for water splitting technology.

Synthesis of novel and stable g-C3N4/N-doped SrTiO3 hybrid nanocomposites with improved photocurrent and photocatalytic activity under visible light irradiation.

Hybrid nanocomposites based on N-doped SrTiO3 nanoparticles wrapped in g-C3N4 nanosheets were successfully prepared by a facile and reproducible polymeric citrate and thermal exfoliation method. The results clearly indicated that the N-doped SrTiO3 nanoparticles are successfully wrapped in layers of the g-C3N4 nanosheets. The g-C3N4/N-doped SrTiO3 nanocomposites showed absorption edges at longe...

Graphene Nanosheets Based Cathodes for Lithium-Oxygen Batteries

Lithium-oxygen batteries have attracted considerable attention as a promising energy storage system. Although these batteries have many advantages, they face several critical challenges. In this work, we report the use of graphene nanosheets (GNSs), nitrogen-doped graphene nanosheets (N-GNSs), exfoliated nitrogen-doped graphene nanosheets (Ex-N-GNSs), and a blend of Ex-N-GNSs with nitrogen-dope...

Highly effective sites and selectivity of nitrogen-doped graphene/CNT catalysts for CO2 electrochemical reduction

Metal-free catalysts, such as graphene/carbon nanostructures, are highly cost-effective to replace expensive noble metals for CO2 reduction if fundamental issues, such as active sites and selectivity, are clearly understood. Using both density functional theory (DFT) and ab initio molecular dynamic calculations, we show that the interplay of N-doping and curvature can effectively tune the activ...
